With so many theme parks the Gold Coast has become a bit of a family mecca. And rightly so. All involved have done a pretty fabulous job at making this an easy and fun place to holiday with a family. And with the beach right on your doorstep you can run those kiddies ragged so they sleep well and mummy and daddy can have a nice break and a glass of wine or two. Better stay somewhere with a balcony.

1. Stay right in the heart of it at Paradise Resort

If you are keen to stay right in the heart of Surfers Paradise then you simply cannot go past this place. It is a kid's utopia. I swear they must have a 10 year old on the payroll here as they have thought of everything. It has a kids' club, some awesome play equipment (think of the best park you've ever been to and it's better than that), a water park and, wait for it... a permanent ice rink. Can you believe it? And that's only some of the things available. Crazy. A kids' utopia yes but also a bit of heaven for a busy mummy and daddy too. I truly believe that as a parent you actually get a chance to relax at this resort and you can't say that of every holiday with kids.

2. Stay on the fringes of the action at Turtle Beach Resort

This resort is only 300m from the beach and offers only self contained apartments rather than hotel style rooms. This is brilliant as it means you can cook any or all of your meals there, store food in a fridge etc which will all help in keeping the cost of your holiday down. There is a kids club for kids 4 and an adults only retreat area. Ah bliss.

3. Make it a theme park holiday

Sea World Resort

No matter where you stay you can go to the theme parks of course but if you want to really get into it then consider staying at the Sea World Resort and Water Park. If you buy a package you get unlimited Sea World entry while you are there and they have a Nickelodeon theme at the water park that kids will love. Definitely a worthwhile option for the family.
