Gold Coast City Council: Movies Under the Stars – March 2013

The after dark movies in the park sessions continue in March with GCCC . Check out the offerings below and look out for a venue near you, to enjoy a free movie screening in a Gold Coast park. It's such an easy way to enjoy a family night out, catch up with friends and relax in an outdoor setting.

So what's the line up for March? All movies this month are rated PG (apart from Happy Feet 2, which is rated G).
Brave on Sat 2 March

[ADVERT]Brave is showing at Norfolk Park, Halfway Drive, Ormeau. This movie made me laugh when I first saw it as I caught humour that my kids missed thanksto my Scottish background. From the creators of Finding Nemo, the movie is set in a land of tradition, where a lady is expected to "enjoy elegant pursuits". Enter Merida, our heroine, a skilled archer who would rather have her freedom. This movie advises, "be careful what you wish for".

Midnight in Paris on Sat 9 March

Broadwater Parklands is the venue, at Marine Parade, Southport.

Owen Wilson stars in this romantic comedy fantasy, set in Paris - a city beautiful in the morning, charming in the afternoon, enchanting in the evening but magic after midnight. Forced to confront the shortcomings of his relationship with his fiancé, he travels back in time at midnight.

How to Train Your Dragon on Sat 16 March

Paradise Point Parklands will be hosting How to Train Your Dragon. In some desolate island inhabited by Vikings, the main character Hiccup is an under achiever, lacking the muscle and fierceness of his chieftan father. The island is beset by dragon attacks but Hiccup has no credibility as a dragon slayer, until events change one night when he takes a shot at a Night Fury.

Mirror, Mirror on Sat 23 March

The John Siganto Park in Reserve Road, Upper Coomera will be showing this dark twist in a traditional fairy tale. The "I believe, I believe" dance scene at the end of Mirror, Mirror is unexpected and rather random but finishes the untold adventures of Snow White with a certain zing.

Also on the same night is:

Happy Feet 2 on Sat 23 March

The sequel to Happy Feet is another computer animated family musical film. It follows Erik, son of penguins Mumble (Elijah Wood) and Gloria (Pink), whose story starts with his attempts at dancing. It's on at Hinterland Regional Park, Hardy's Road, Mudgeeraba.

So pop the popcorn and get down to the park during March, for these free outdoor movie screenings.

If weather is uncertain, check here for an update or phone 5581 7016 for cancellation advice.
