Not everyone in the Gold Coast wants to sit down and enjoy a breakfast in a restaurant. There are many businesses that do not come close, although there are some great cheap feeds on the Goldie, yet when it comes to that all important meal of the day (breakfast), the catches are trickier.
Just exactly where in the Gold Coast can you buy the cheapest breakfast, without compromising too much (if at all) on quality? The answer might surprise you, just as it has many others. When you keep looking, the goodies arrive.
We need to thank the owner of OMG Cafe (on the Boulevard) at Surfers Paradise, for taking that leap of faith ten months ago: to leave Sydney and move to the Gold Coast. The owner is clearly passionate about food, and from him I have recently tasted one of the best bacon and egg rolls with tomato sauce I have ever tasted. It is evident that the owner here is an experienced food operator, and also owns two other food outlets on the Gold Coast. Most of all, the large bacon and egg roll only sets you back $4, which is money well spent. It's a great take-away treat to enjoy along the beach. A couple of fresh bacon pieces were enjoyed on a turkish like roll that was toasted just right, with a well cooked egg with quality, runny yoke. The service here was brilliant, and you would be hard pressed to find another quality take-away breakfast such as this, from a non-chain food outlet on the Gold Coast.
Then again, speaking of chain stores, at McDonald's (right opposite the beach, also at Surfers Paradise) people can buy a muffin (a standard size bacon or sausage and egg McMuffin) with two hash browns and a regular size coffee for only $5. There are no other establishments for take-away breakfast on the Goldie that come close in offering such great value with a drink included. Otherwise the next best option is to eat in somewhere.
If you come across any others like OMG Cafe, or anything cheaper, please let us know by leaving your valuable comments on this article. If we can beat $4 (or even $5) for a sensational take-away, quality breakfast, that would be gold.
