For a more sophisticated (and pricier) movie-going experience, Event Cinemas across Sydney offer you the Gold Class experience.
Seeing a movie in Gold Class firstly means bigger, comfier, reclining seats and your own little table. These seats are probably the most comfortable seats you'll ever watch a movie from, excluding your couch at home.
Bigger seats also means less seats. Which means less background noise while you watch your movie. This is good news if you're like me and are easily bothered by teenage chatter, coughing and other distractions during a movie.
Seeing a movie in Gold Class also means relaxing before your movie in the Gold Class lounge. Most Gold Class lounges are in a separate part of the cinema complex and sell alcoholic beverages so you can sit at chat before your movie.
Seeing a movie in Gold Class also means food delivered right to your seat. And by food, I don't mean popcorn. Well, you can order popcorn if you want to but the Gold Class menu contains items that are a little bit more gourmet, including seafood items and antipasto platters.
Lastly, seeing a movie in Gold Class means paying more money. Gold Class movies aren't cheap (upwards from $30 per person depending which cinema you go to and which session time you choose). Given the cost, save Gold Class for those special movies you've been holding out to see or perhaps for a special occasion. Gold Class gift vouchers also make great gifts.
There are a number of Gold Class locations around Sydney. Check the Event Cinema website for locations and session times.
