Western Sydney is a bustling growing part of Sydney that is full of growing developments, exciting eateries, unique bars and a variety of retailers. One part of the West that's particularly gaining traction is Penrith, especially along the banks of the Nepean River.

Exciting cafes and restaurants have opened up along the Great River Walk in Nepean including Goji Cocktail Bar and Restaurant serving up the best Asian fusion in that part of town.

Ever since doors opened in February, the family owned business has been dishing up a mix of exotic foods from across Asia. Booking at this 300-seat eatery is a must, whether it be for a yum cha breakfast, lunch or dinner with a few of their popular Asian-inspired cocktails.

From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with excellent service and a stunning wall Muriel hand-painted by an extremely talented tattoo artist – it's one you can't take your eyes off.

My husband Shaun and I love Asian food and spend most of our time exploring Sydney trying to find the most delicious cuisines from across the globe. This one is so far my favourite in Western Sydney.

The generously proportioned dishes are all made from scratch using fresh ingredients, all made with the perfect amount of sauce and seasoning.

The kitchen is visible which makes it entertaining watching the chefs prepare your food. We loved watching them stretch out the handmade noodles and make the dumplings minutes before being served to us.

We were recommended a few of their most popular dishes including a selection of dumplings, vegetables and rice.

First was the twice cooked beans with chilli and garlic, although it sounds like an average dish, it isn't! The beans were crunchy yet cooked to perfection with the right amount of garlic and chili to give the greens a taste you wanted to come back for!

We paired the beans with glazed fried eggplant, which was our favourite dish, and apparently is one of the most popular on the menu. Once you sink your teeth into it, there's an instant crunch and the sauce makes it an absolute winner. It should be noted it takes four hours to make this special glaze sauce.

You can't go to an Asian restaurant without trying the handmade dumplings, so we tried the Alaskan Crab and seafood dumpling. Although the dumpling menu is pretty amazing with more than 10 combinations to choose from, the chefs recommended the crab because it's the top pick for customers and employees. It was a mouthful of flavour! Yum.

Along with their special seafood fried rice, we had the stir fried crispy pork belly with crackling – and let's face it, everyone loves a good pork belly. The juicy meat combined with Chinese broccoli and chilli was the tastiest trio which paired perfectly with the rich flavour of the fried rice.

To end off the meal, we had with the mango pancake with vanilla bean ice-cream and dehydrated strawberries topped with fairy floss. The way they crafted this exquisite dish was enough to impress anyone.

Whether you're looking for a Sunday lunch out, or a dinner with drinks, Goji is a must try. The vibrant atmosphere and friendly staff made this restaurant our favourite and now our go to Asian eatery.
Prices are average, and all dishes are designed to share. With generous meal proportions, you will not leave the Goji Bar hungry.

Bookings recommended, but not essential. Open Sunday to Thursday 7am-10pm and Friday to Saturday 7am -11pm.
