I hope everyone has a had wonderful summer holiday season full of fun at the beach, swimming and snorkelling. I myself enjoyed time at Long Reef Beach snorkelling for seashells or doing laps at my local pool in Prince Alfred Park. Now all my girls out there before we jump in the pool...we throw our hair up in a bun...and get ready to deal with the wrestling match of putting on and taking off our goggles. Our hair gets pulled, tangled and ripped out. In fact, this is an issue for most kids and adults. Anyone who has ever worn goggles knows exactly what I'm talking about.
I wanted to tell you about a local Sydney business and product that is quite cool and funky that I have recently found and have used. It is called Goggle Saver and it is targeted primarily towards kids, however is functional and practical for adults as well as I mentioned, I've realised the benefit myself.
Goggle Saver is a fantastic new product that all the cool kids and adults should try. As the name implies, it will save your goggles from pulling out your hair, slipping down your face and sinking to the bottom or the pool or ocean. Goggle Saver is made from comfortable material that has a patented bifold design. They fold over your current goggle straps and lock in place with velcro....easy huh?
Putting Googles Savers on will increase the wearers' comfort, as there are no more hassles related to wearing, adjusting and removing your swim googles. They will no longer get tangled up in your wet hair...no more shrieks getting them out or having clumps of hair being yanked.
Goggle Saver has a funky easy on and off neoprene material that is comfortable to wear and easy to side on and off...so much so that kids can do it themselves. Goggle Saver is an easy one-size fits all design, which cleverly enough fits kids heads from ages two to three through to adults.
They were created and sized to keep googles from sliding down the back of your child's head that would then lead to goggles falling off your face... with Goggle Savers this won't happen. However, should you want to take your goggles off in the water, Goggle Saver will allow your goggles to float...cool huh? A swim teacher and Goggle Saver user stated on the product Facebook page that they 'save time wasted fixing goggles during lessons.' Check out this short video and hear the testimonials for yourself.
Goggle Savers come in many different colours and designs from solid blue and red to fun sea creatures like turtles, sharks, seahorses, dolphins, crabs and clownfish. At the end of a busy day in the pool or in the salty ocean, there is no need to rinse them off in fresh water...after a year and a half mine are still in great condition.
I had the fortunate opportunity to ask the managing director Brian Slaughter about how this product came about. He stated that the idea had come from seeing his own two young daughters, their friends and parents dismay in dealing with painful hair tangles and pulling related to standard plastic goggle straps. He decided to fix the problem and the idea of Goggle Saver was born. He adds that the product is so practical and comfortable for adults that he even wears them...despite not having any hair!
They've just started a crowd-funding campaign to launch their product in the US as well. Let's get on board and in the water to help support this new local business.
