The first time I stumbled upon this gourmet chocolate brand would have been 10 years ago at Kuala Lumpur airport. I had no idea It was a Belgium brand.
Pierre Draps first dreamt up GODIVA in 1926, meticulously crafting pralines from his home kitchen in Brussels. His children soon became collaborators, in their own words, they were 'born into chocolate'.
Fast forward to 2019, and Godiva has made its presence here in Melbourne since 2017, with a store in Doncaster shopping town.
At the moment they have a Warm and Toasty special which consists of your choice of a Croiffle or Waffle with any hot drink for $9.90 What is a Croiffle? Well, as the name suggests, it's a flaky, buttery croissant toasted perfectly golden in a waffle press.
