You'll need a boat to access this walk so if you don't have one find a friend with a yacht, speedboat or tinny. It's a bit too far to paddle your kayak, maybe 8 kms from the Mundoo Boat Ramp on Hindmarsh Island, and you need to reserve energy for the walk.

Coorong Cruises incorporate this walk in some of their cruise itineraries. A good option if you don't have access to a boat.

Although a moderately easy walk of only 3 kms (return), it's a great adventure for many reasons. It starts at the Coorong Lagoon and winds through the bush and sandhills, ending at a spectacular Southern Ocean beach.

There are information boards along the way identifying local fauna.

The area features natural resources originally sourced by the traditional Ngarrindjeri people of the area.

In more recent times the area was popular for its supply of cockles.

There's a few rusty pieces of cockle-catching evidence scattered about.

There's a 'boardwalk' leading through the dunes with arrows clearly guiding the way.

As you climb the tall sandhill and hear the sound of waves, be excited.

As you reach the top of the dune, a spectacular sight awaits.

A pristine beach, a powerful ocean and the longest stretch of sand you are ever likely to see. And chances are, you will be the only person there.
