South Aussies have the opportunity to help make a difference by raising $2 million for heart disease and cancer research and cures.

Go the distance is a new fundraising initiative and a partnership between four leading South Australian charities: Flinders Medical Centre Foundation, Heart Foundation, Leukaemia Foundation and Little Heroes Foundation.

It's open to people of all ages and any fitness level and you can take part as an individual, family or team.

The fundraisng challenge is open from now until Sunday 28 October, when everyone will come together for the community and family event at West Beach.

You can choose to run, walk or ride and distances range from 7 to 107 km, so there's something for everyone.

All you have to do is register and then raise a minimum amount before competing in the event in October.

Go the distance provides regular fundraising advice and training support so you're not on your own.

Visit the website for more information and to register.
