Gnocchi is an Italian dish that I love to eat, whether I make it myself from scratch, buy it already made or eat at a restaurant. You can add so many sauces and the flavour of these sauces are absorbed into the pasta made of potato.

This event is going to be on 19th October 2019 from 12.00 noon to 10.00 pm at The Ascot Lot, 448-466 Mount Alexander Road, Ascot Vale.

The meaning of the word gnocchi in Italian is small lumps and although they are usually made with potatoes, I sometimes use semolina. The potatoes are mashed and combined with flour to create a dough that's then formed into small pieces for boiling. When they are cooked, they turn into light, fluffy small pieces.

You are able to buy them frozen, fresh or actually dried and the dried ones last for a long time in the packet. The sauces that they are served with, often have a tomato taste however I have used many other bases such as the following in my recipes for gnocchi:

  • Gnocchi With Bacon and Parmesan

  • Baked Potatoes in Tomato with Semolina Gnocchi.

  • Homemade Semolina Gnocchi

  • Vegetarian Gnocchi with Spinach and Three Cheese Sauce

  • Potato and Ricotta Dumplings

  • Watermelon, Feta and Pumpkin Seed Salad with Spinach Gnocchi and Walnuts

  • will be a day to taste these yummy pillowy parcels! For those who are not familiar with the gnocchi, this event is a must. It features Melbourne's best Food Trucks and Stalls to celebrate potato dumplings including these:

  • Pasta Face
  • Just like Nonna's
  • Jake's Kitchen
  • Burrito Bae
  • Ardor Food Co. gluten-free

  • Vegan and gluten free options will be available on the day. The indoor Drinking Hall and outdoor Garden Bar will be offering Italian inspired cocktails including Aperol Spritz, Peach Bellinis and Negronis.

As well as being a food fest, this event features live entertainment in the largest Beer Garden in the North-West. As always, all the food places are 100% doggos-friendly and this includes their Indoor Drinking Hall and sheltered Outdoor Garden Bar!
