Pop it in your diary!

Adelaide's first gluten free and healthy lifestyle expo, Gluten Matters, will storm the Stirling Angus Pavilion at Wayville Showground for the weekend of 25 and 26 July.

%%Whatever the reason, gluten intolerance is on the increase and coeliac disease is being diagnosed more and more often. Currently 1 in 100 Australians are affected by coeliac disease, but approximately four out of five remain undiagnosed, which means that around 183,000 have the disease but don't yet know it.

Coeliac disease is an immune disease caused by gluten, a protein in wheat, rye, barley and oats. %%

It's hard enough keeping regular meals appealing, but coeliac disease and gluten intolerance provide myriad challenges in serving up exciting, tasty and tempting food.

Gluten Matters, conducted by Coeliac Society SA & NT, gives you the chance to meet almost fifty providers of gluten free food (inlcuding many that cater to other intolerances as well) under the one roof. Many of the exhibitors are locals, keen to show you the wonderful array of options available right on your doorstep.

Take advantage of the many exhibitors who will have samples of their wares for you to taste. You will be hard pressed to NOT find the perfect solution to your gluten free needs and there's even a couple of providers of gluten free beer!

It's also a great opportunity to meet the local manufacturers – talk to them, ask questions – find out why it's worth getting to know them and their products. You'll be able to find those who are most conveniently located for you – and perhaps even those who are worth crossing town for stocking up.

Like most expos, exhibitors will have created some special deals, just for the expo. Don't stand back – it's a great chance to buy and try.

Are you a fan of TV cooking shows? Not only will the days be peppered with cooking demonstrations, but former Masterchef contestants Courtney Roulsten and Michael Weldon will conduct regular demonstrations every hour.

There's a special treat in store as well: you'll be able to meet the cast of Alternative Chef, the exciting new internet cooking program produced right here in Adelaide.

And, while you're busy discovering and tasting, there are fantastic opportunities to learn more about coeliac disease and gluten free eating from expert guest speakers, including gastroenterologists and dieticians.
