Off I went for my 11:30am glow worm experience. People young and old were everywhere but very few inflatables. Soon enough you could tell who was in our group, which consisted of five mattresses, four rings, a crocodile and a dinosaur.
Torches on, we hit the mud and walked into the darkness. We got to the water and plopped ourselves on our floaties and paddled. We paddled for what only felt like 10 minutes but when we emerged we found out it was actually an hour and a half.
We saw the odd glow worm but we were extremely noisy and had a tonne of light. This was one super fun almost free experience. It would have been cool to see more glow worms but, ah well, what can you do.
If you are going to try this definitely try and use a blow up mattress (I was saturated in my ring), go with at least one other person, take torches and be prepared to go in deep. If you think you can walk, maybe have an inflatable sitting in the car.
Thanks for the fun day UOW Outdoor Club.
P.S. If you go after 6pm or when it is dark, the glow worms will most likely be showing off.
