On my trips to Albany I have always passed by but this time I decided to stop here.

I am glad because I found a beautiful area to rest and admire the beauty of the surrounding pine trees.

This was formerly a settlement for forestry workers and their families. All that is left of the townsite after the 1961 Jarrahdale fires are the roads and the central water tower.

Now picnic tables and a toilet block and barbecue sites replace the old school that existed in the past. The ring road is a pleasant one kilometre walk around the area.

Dogs are permitted and overnight stays allowed. There are no fees. The Munda Biddi Bike Trail passes through here and the Bibbulman Track is only a few km down the highway.

Gleneagle rest area is located 25 km south east of Armadale on the Albany highway's left hand side.
