The Glenaeon Art Show & Family Fair is standout annual event on Sydney's Lower North Shore.
It is enjoyed by families and friends of the school as well as local residents and visitors from far and wide, all of whom are attracted to the uniqueness of a Steiner school fair.
This year's event will be held on Saturday 4 November 2017 at the Castlecrag Campus of Glenaeon Rudolf Steiner School. Entry FREE.
The fair offers a magical weekend of fun and creative activities for children of all ages and great entertainment plus unique market stalls, delicious food and a world-class art show.
From 10am to 4pm, kids can enjoy fun activities that will keep them engaged all day. Children can test their skills climbing Jacob's Ladder, throwing a ball at Coconut Shy, or scaling the heights of the famous Lollipop Climb. They will also enjoy Crystal Mining, Face Painting, Sword Making and much more.
The bustling market stalls will line Castlecrag Campus and feature a unique selection of retailers and hobby artists offering handmade toys, eco-friendly and fair trade homewares, unique clothing and accessories and more. Other highlights include Steiner Bookshop and a craft stall with exquisite toys and gifts all lovingly handmade by Glenaeon parents!
NEW for 2017 is Talk Tent with special guest speakers on storytelling and local flora and fauna, including owls and flying foxes.
Adding to the vibrant community atmosphere is an exciting entertainment line-up on the main stage, including jazz bands, R&B groups, instrumentalists and vocalists – there will be something to suit every taste!
And completing the Glenaeon Family Fair is a diverse selection of food stalls run by parents, serving mostly organic and/or locally sourced items. The Steinburger BBQ, Sushi Stall, Chai Tent and Homemade Lemonade Stall are sure to be crowd favourites!
The Glenaeon Art Show will also be open to the public, showcasing artworks and crafts created by emerging and established local artists.
The 2017 show promises to be yet another milestone event with over 150 great pieces of art on display and available for purchase. The showcase includes traditional, abstract and contemporary paintings, prints and photography, plus sculpture, jewellery, textiles, ceramics and more. A portion of the sale of each work is retained as a contribution to the school's fundraising and is used to provide important services and facilities for the students of Glenaeon, now and into the future.
The Glenaeon Art Show & Family Fair is a great opportunity to find out more about Steiner education, view primary and high school students' work and talk to teachers about the difference a Glenaeon education makes. The school, which is currently celebrating its 60th anniversary, is particularly thrilled to have one of the school dads, Cameron Daddo, as this year's Master of Ceremonies.
The exhibition will open on Friday 3 November, with an Opening Night event from 6pm to 9pm. Entry is free and tickets will be available online soon. It will continue to run till Sunday 5 November 2017. This will be the final day and last chance to buy art.
