Okie dokes, folks, I'm excited! I hope you are too – by the fact that there's a brand new festival about to hit Melbourne's suburbs. The very first Glen Waverley Food, Wine & Music Festival gets cracking on Sunday November 15th. Bring an appetite - and your dancing shoes!
Glen Waverley's main drag, including Kingsway, Century City Walk and The Glen shopping precinct, will be jumping with a bunch of tantalizing entertainment for all ages.
Cruise with some blues, jive to some jazz or get hot Latin-style with some sizzling salsa dance lessons and lively Latin band, Bahia. Check out the times here.
If you've worked up an appetite by then, there'll be no shortage of yummy treats for some sumptuous Sunday indulgence. Think, amongst loads of other temptations, calamari rings, Spanish paella, gelati and home made Italian sausage. If you haven't tried this cultural icon, traditionally made each year on the Queen's Birthday long weekend in June, you must. (It's smoked and thereby preserved, so don't worry about a use-by date).
If food is your passion, you'll not be disappointed too by a fabulous celebrity chef program, including a head-to-head cook-off between some of Melbourne's great chefs. Iron Chef, eat your heart out!
Janne Applegren, Editor of the recently released Age Good Food Guide 2010, will also be about, while local cafes and restaurants will be cooking up a storm. There'll be wine a-plenty to sample and buy for those with a good nose – and for those who don't know a thing about wine but simply just enjoy it.
Bring the littlies. Between face painting, rides and all the fun of the fair, they'll have a great day out too.
Like I said, I'm excited and will be there with bells on. If you want to spot me, I'll be the one making embarrassing, though wholehearted, attempts to wiggle my hips like those Brazilian girls do. Lol!
