Chinese New Year will be celebrated with great zeal and festivities at Kingsway, Glen Waverley on Sunday, 1 March 2015. The Lantern Festival in Glen Waverley celebrates the 15th day of Chinese New Year. It is also be the last Chinese New Year Festival in Melbourne every year.
All are invited to this free festival which promises to be bigger and better than ever. The Year of the Goat will be welcomed with a huge array of free and fun activities. A traditional lion dance will herald the festival proceedings at 11am followed by the dragon dance and high poles at noon and the blessing of the local shops between 2.30pm and 3.30pm. The final dragon dance will be held at 5pm.
Children will be rendered delirious with joy by a wide range of rides and games. There will be a fine demonstration of Chinese arts and crafts.
Food stalls serving a huge selection of food from the Chinese cuisine will seduce your tastebuds and tempt your nostrils. Grab some tasty treats, stroll through the market stalls, enjoy the lion dance, learn a thing or two about the Chinese culture.
