If you're looking for a magical and enchanting venue that will literally take your breath away at first glance, then I recommend . The history of this place is phenomenal. The homestead was built in the late 1850's, which is conveyed through the distinct character that makes special.

Not only is this old-world charm gorgeous, it offers a variety of function choices to suit any occasion. I was first captivated by this place through images that I stumbled across online, which give a mere sneak peek into how amazing Glen Ewin actually is. Photos do not do this place any justice. Located in Houghton, approximately 30 - 40 minutes away from the CBD, you'll be taken aback by the unrivaled appeal that makes this venue a true gem on the outskirts of the city.

Be prepared for a fairy tale haven of lush gardens, a silky smooth lake that glistens against the sunlight, the rustic charm which encompasses the entire experience, and so much more. This venue is greater than the average function space. It comprises two function rooms, a cellar door (restaurant) and open gardens.

I initially visited Glen Ewin as a possible wedding venue. Although it's a little out of my price range, I was definitely convinced and impressed by its aesthetic.

Furthermore, the food looks inherently appealing, and if you're the outdoorsy type then you'll be happy to know that fig picking is a popular activity that is offered. is home to Willbrand figs, and the terraces are filled with abundant fig trees that are juicy, fresh and of exceptional quality. Glen Ewin is known for its creative and gourmet menu that incorporates the figs into a few of their elegant dishes. This is definitely something that stood out to me when considering Glen Ewin as a possible wedding venue, as I'm a critical foodie who is extremely specific about ingredients used.

As you wander further into the estate, you will come across the infamous "Pulpshed", a rustic, wooden and provincial style barn that looks incredible during the day and especially at night. During events, the interior is embellished with lanterns and delicate decorations to highlight the intimate and romantic character of the building.
