Classic Cinemas is once again taking part in the Glen Eira Storytelling Festival with the Big Night In, Talkbox and a historical walking tour.
Glen Eira Storytelling Festival is a cultural extravaganza of music, comedy, stories and workshops.
Built in 1889, Classic Cinema was established as a picture theatre in 1911. This cinema (formerly Elsternwick Theatre), is listed on the Victorian Heritage Register for its immense regional historical and social significance. During 2018, the Classic Cinemas celebrated the opening of four cinema auditoriums taking the historical site to a total of 10 screens.
On 25 June Big Night In showcases Melbourne's hilarious comedy scene. Come and enjoy a night of diversity and inclusivity with the new, the rising and hilarious at this fun night.
Talkbox on 2 July will feature the weirdest spoken-word performances on the Southside. Performers will stretch their limits of the spoken-word genre with poetry, art statements, essays, monologues and dialogues. This evening provides a platform for emerging poets to perform their original work. The evening will have a focus on the perspectives of young creatives from writers, people of colour, LGBTQ and people with disabilities.
