You are about to sink your teeth into the biggest burger you have ever seen.
500g of beef, huge slices of tomato, fried onion, lettuce, BBQ and aioli sauce and cheese. All on a thick sourdough bun that leaves plenty of flour on your top lip.
I saw the Mountain Man Burger challenge on the wall of in the Outback Bar inside the Glasshouse Mountains Tavern. The décor and atmosphere was so warm and inviting, that as I sat waiting for my beast to arrive, I almost forgot what I had ordered.
Then it arrived.
I actually gasped loudly as the waitress placed the plate infront of me.
"Good luck," she grined.
My wife spent the next 45 minutes in stitches as she watched me try to beat the burger. It took time, it took breaks and lots and lots of battling. I didn't want it to beat me!
The meat is giant but the bun, the cheese, it's all so thick that you shouldn't eat for days prior if you have any chance. If you beat the Mountain Man burger, you receive a free beer and your name on the wall.
On this occasion, the burger had his boxing gloves tightened and beat me.
But I didn't regret not taking those last few bites. I already felt sick and knew if I had finished it, it would not have been an enjoyable aftermath.
On the positive side, the burger is ultra tasty which makes the first three quarters easy to shovel down. The patty is moist and seasoned, the cheese is genuine and the lettuce crisp.
The Mountain Man Burger. Take the drive to the Glasshouse Mountains tavern, enter the Outback Bar and take it on.
It's great fun.
