Classy little bar with charisma

Classy at Glass
I've been to this bar a few times now and I love it. On a recent visit I was lucky enough to meet Jacqui, the new owner who invited me to her recent re-launch on Thursday 21st of November. Now she is set to take this place on and raise it to a new dimension.

Glass serves great tasting tapas and small food plates and is conveniently located in the Judith Wright Centre of Contemporary Arts, making it a fantastic 'meet before the arts' place with friends.

While the 'Glass Bar' is a great place already, it is only going to get better, with new 'innovation by Jacqui, who is ready to craft this space in her own special way.

Although 'Glass' is known predominately as a bar, Jacqui hopes to increase the food side of the business and have the menu changed seasonally. Jacqui has on board an excellent trained chef who did his apprenticeship with one of Australia's best chefs - Tetsuya in Sydney. She has been involved with the hospitality industry for many years, although this is the first claim to business 'ownership' status. Previously Jacqui owned a retail shop centred around 'craft'.

Jacqui, new owner, new talent and ready to craft her new 'space'

"The appeal of this place is that it has a nice natural vibe, and is not full of teenagers as it seems to attract an older crowd", says Jacqui. I entirely agree with her as during the times I have personally visited, these same thoughts' had resonated with me.

Bringing in her 'design and craft talent, Jacqui is playing on the name "Glass', for decorative theming features, such as the new glass shelving for spirit and liqueur bottles and glass bar panels for the bar's logo.

Sensational cocktails - It's all in the presentation

As a hanging art feature she has arranged installation of glasses painted on canvas and installed a few clusters of hanging open glass bulbs.

Why not come along and enjoy tapas, fine cocktails or classy wine on one of the 'special Glass Bar nights' such as;
Jazz on Thursdays from 8pm (while enjoying delicious tapas and cocktails).
Or join *Dr Sketchy's art night, on the first Tuesday of each month at 7.30pm. Bring your pad and pencils along for this 'where cabaret meets art school'.

A Dr Sketchy night is where you can practice your drawing talents with beautiful models in gorgeous costumes striking their poses. A different theme is presented each session, making for a fun and enjoyable night, even if you don't participate in the sketching.

Glass Bar is also a great little venue to hold your next function, regardless of the day or the hours, just let Jacqui know your requirements.

In the meantime you can keep up to date with 'what's on at Glass' via Facebook, or the website.
