Renting is the new black
I recently had the pleasure of hiring two beautiful designer dresses fromGlamCorner in Adelaide, who specialise in providing their customers with quality outfits for a fraction of their sale price. This innovative fashion startup is led by husband and wife duo Dean Jones and Audrey Khaing-Jones, who left their careers to pursue their dream venture as successful entrepreneurs. These guys have done so well in establishing their online business by incorporating renowned Australian and international designers who've made a significant mark on the fashion scene.
Hiring a dress is great for a few reasons; it's cheaper, the dresses are dry cleaned prior to hiring, you can search through an array of designers to suit any occasion, and the GlamCorner team do a great job in answering any queries you may have via email or phone. I had a few questions regarding delivery, sizing and my browser was having a few issues at the checkout. The GlamCorner Customer Happiness Team quickly resolved my queries in a prompt and friendly manner. I found it extremely easy to navigate their website, as it's composed of tabs and categories that help to filter and refine your search. If you're looking for a specific designer, it will be easier for you and more time efficient to click onto the designer tab which will take you directly to where you want to go. Similarly, if you search byoccasion, you can shorten your options to suit your event, whether it be cocktail, formal, wedding event, races or mother of the bride. Additionally, you can hire accessories to match your outfit.
GlamCorner aims to bring the latest trends to those who want to look their best at their latest function. I was amazed by all the designers on offer; Alex Perry, Herve Lager, Self Portrait, Lover, Camilla, Alice McCall, Sass and Bide and more. The only problem I encountered was sizing related. I'm a size 4-6, so I knew this would be difficult, as shopping in general can be a struggle at times. There weren't many options to choose from for a small frame so I settled on two size 6 dresses, although I knowingly considered they may not fit me.
As you go through the online ordering process, you can pick the reservation dates (a 4 or 8 day period) and when you'd like the products delivered. I chose 4 days and ordered mine for the long weekend. Next day delivery is only available in capital cities. It's probably best to choose your outfit a while before your function, just in case you change your mind. Similarly, an 8 day hire period may be best, especially if the piece of clothing is too big or small, you can return it for a different size or exchange it for another item. What's more, for $15 you can hire another dress or item as a backup, just in case.
My products came delivered to my door in a sealed box that ensured they'd be safely kept and free from damage or dirt whilst traveling from the warehouse. Inside the box was a prepaid satchel with a return printed label, making it even easier to return the dress without paying any extra fees. I was incredibly impressed with my items, particularly the Lover Black Lula Halter Dress. It fit extremely well, and looked amazing. This dress retails at over $600, so renting is a much more budget friendly option.
I also opted for an Alex Perry dress, which unfortunately was extremely large for me. I was a little shocked as it was a size 6, and in the advertised image it appeared to be a small made dress. Hiring outfits can be risky in this circumstance, particularly if you need something urgently, although, GlamCorner do exchange items. However, the dress itself was lovely, subtle and perfect for a cocktail occasion or a night on the town.
It would've been great if there were a few more dress options to suit a smaller frame, but overall I was happy with GlamCorner and swayed by the array of designer outfits for hire. Although size 4 dresses aren't extremely common, having that option would be reassuring when I hire a dress in the future.
I'd definitely recommend GlamCorner to anyone who is looking for a suitable outfit for an upcoming function, particularly if you don't have the time to sift through racks of clothing at busy retail outlets. Similarly, if you're on a constricted budget, GlamCorner is a fantastic option.
