GJ Walter park is located behind the Grandview Hotel. This waterside park is a fantastic spot to set up for a weekend BBQ. During low tide, you can spot thousands of shells along the shore and watch the ferries go by.
GJ Walter park has some impressive trees with hollow bottoms big enough for children to crawl through. The park has a huge grass area, fantastic for a game of cricket. You can also walk straight into the Grandview Hotel from this park, grab something to eat and still catch the water views.
I've spent a lot time at this park. My tips are to avoid it on a very windy day, it seems to catch the worst of it. Be wary that when swimming the mud is quite thick further out, kids could get stuck. Also beware of stingers which are present around the bay at random times, usually you will find warning signs.
