Treating myself to a delicious treat was on the cards this weekend and well overdue.

I've been busy moving house and driving my son to all his many after school activities, and to be quite honest, I am simply exhausted.

Suffice it to say, not just any treat was going to do.

I decided to drop into Giuseppe Arnaldo & Sons (GAS) and after much deliberation, ordered their Torte di Americana. A warm blueberry and apple pie, with brown sugar and cinnamon, doused with vanilla custard & a blueberry and rose flavoured sauce.

Unfortunately, I showed zero will power and tucked in before taking a 'before' photo, but the 'after' shot should tell the story. This could very well be the most divine dessert around. The pastry is crumbly and somehow manages to stay crisp despite it's liquid surroundings.

The torte itself is warm and homely and spiced to perfection and the addition of the custard and berry sauce results in a truly wondrous dessert experience.

Will I be back? Without a doubt and now I know how good this fruity delight is, I certainly won't be waiting for an excuse!
