Identifying the style of this performance is difficult. It's a unique and clever combination of dance styles, theatre, satire and comedy. It's also interactive, provocative and relatable. This is a unique performance characterised by imagery and as eclectic as the styling at a Fitzroy cafe.

Girls, Girls, Girls is unlike anything you've ever experienced before. It explores the many facets of being female through interpretive dance and creative acts.

The bubbling host Stephanie invited us the smile, laugh and be human. I noted the latter, thinking this was preparatory to something different. This may not have been unusual in itself if we had not been then invited to dress and touch the girls waiting. The girls dressed in identical clothing looked like lifeless, carbon copies of each other. When dressed, the girls came alive with their own messages to tell. This part was a bit spooky contrasting with the rest of the fast-moving, upbeat show.

As well as the most unusual start to a show I've ever seen, this is a dynamic show where there's a lot going on all at once. I'm sure I missed a lot because it was impossible to take in everything at the same time. Later, when reflecting on the performance, it was clear that everyone got different messages from it. But we all agreed it was very funny.

Throughout the performance, I tried to define the style, but it is a performance unlike anything that's ever been imagined before. It's a senses overload with the powerful, emotive music being a key feature. The French lyrics added to my curiosity. In addition, bright coloured and strobe lights, dramatic movement with apt costumes and makeup added many dimensions. It is a well-rehearsed production with energetic and engaging performers. No matter what you call it, it's a very entertaining night.

One of my favourite parts was the mock (and mocking) beauty pageant. They certainly have a lot more to offer than their looks! I won't spoil it by sharing any more details. The Mistress of Ceremonies couldn't have been more enthusiastic and engaging.

The finale of the show encompassing the many faces of girls in the modern world was met with loud 'Whoas' from the audience.

I congratulate the team for their novelty. This Sydney based dance company have come directly to Melbourne from sell-out shows in Sydney, Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast. Throughout the show, I was pestered by a question about how they come up with something like that. I now wonder what will be next for this team. It's a big act to follow.

Audience: Wide appeal but likely to be enjoyed most by young females

Warning: Contains mild coarse language and adult themes.
