Girls Day Out in Leura

After a long week of work, do you just want to head out of town for a day of fun and relaxation? Grab your best girlfriends and head out to Leura Mall in Leura, where you'll find the perfect girls day out.

Leura is approximately 1.5 hours drive from Sydney or an easy train ride (and the train station is right at Leura Mall so it's very convenient). Once you get there, you'll immediately feel relaxed and a world away when you see the beautiful tree-lined Leura Mall, with plentiful cafes and specialty stores to explore.

Start the day with brunch at The Red Door Cafe , where you can grab a table in the outdoor courtyard, or line up along the stools in the window for some morning people-watching over french toast with fresh strawberries and maple syrup.

After breakfast, head a few stores up towards the train station where you will find Josophan's Fine Chocolates . Treat yourself to a delicate handmade chocolate (try the Mango Chilli), or indulge in some Belgian Chocolate Callets (my favourite ones are the green-coloured lemon callets). Make sure you get enough to take home because you'll definitely want more to fight the Monday-itis come Monday morning.

By now, it should be time to do a bit of shopping - a great place to start is Inner Space , which is again only a few doors down from Josophan's, a little bit further down the mall past The Red Door. Inner Space is a great homewares, furniture and gifts shop where you'll find something wonderful for your home, or perhaps the perfect gift for a friend.

Since it is a girls day out, you need to make sure you spoil yourself with something sweet and pretty - so head straight to Papinelle . Enjoy the pretty displays, touch the soft fabrics and smell the gorgeous scented candles. I'm sure you won't walk out of this one empty handed.

Leura Mall has plenty of other delightful specialty stores, including a candy store, a cute little Christmas shop packed full of Christmas ornaments, various patisseries, boutique clothing stores and lots of stores selling homewares.

If you're visiting Leura on the first Sunday of the month, you can also explore the Leura First Sunday Markets held from 9am-2pm at the Leura Public School.

When you're done with the shopping, hop back in the car and take a short drive over to Echo Point at Katoomba, just in time to watch the sun go down and the colours change over the Three Sisters. Bliss.
