The year is 1994 and record label hustlers Craig and Darren are searching for the next big girl band. Enter Stacey, Kiki, Sammy, Jade and MJ - The Sensation Girls!
The girls have been styled and fashioned to fit the girl band mould but does one size really fit all? When the group of 5 become 4 after their unofficial leader, DeeDee unexpectedly quits the group, newcomer Kiki has her work cut out to fill in the costume gap that DeeDee left and perhaps a power struggle as to who really should be the new leader of the group.

As the girls become bolder in their attitudes and want more than Craig and Darren signed them up for, it's up to dedicated and hardworking Becky, the unshakeable choreographer/manager to keep the girls on track and in costume. No matter how the girls may feel, the show will go on.

This show explores more than just five girls showing up for rehearsal after rehearsal to be part of something big. Chasing fame may not be the most important thing, wearing your big girl shoes and tight costumes is the important thing - but to whom? Themes of exploitation of women in the music industry are explored here and the rising of female empowerment and using their voice for more than singing.
This is the ultimate girl power production. The actors are superb in bringing The Sensation Girls to life, complete with catchy songs and choreography, clever banter and camaraderie. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing these characters brought to life by a talented group of artists.
