What do you get when you combine the skills of kick-arse videojournalist, Kate Ferguson , an inGINeous idea from the crew at Wise Wine , and outback towns (ending in "gin")?

You get the Gins of the Outback project :"Hard borders and the inability to travel-inspired Greg to look at how we as West Australians can travel and enjoy our own backyard, and from that came the idea of the Gins of The Outback Project.Greg visited the seven towns of WA with 'gin' it their name, meeting the legends, learning the myths, and most importantly, foraging for local native botanicals to make a gin specifically for each town."Enter Kate, who created the videos about the adventure.

You can watch all the videos here .

While each of the towns have great stories and characters who regale them, having watched all of the videos, the one that really spoke to me was the Corrigin one.

Why? Well, as a (very!) dog person, I was touched by the fact that the town has a dog cemetery (cue tears!) - and, still holds the world record for the most number of dogs in a ute, in a line, while the engines are running! How good is that?

Quite the Aussie town .

When I found out the launch of the CorriGIN was happening, I knew I had to be a part of it - and visit this small town.

And of course, taste the gins.

There is a bespoke gin for each town, made from the botanicals native to the area. The limited-edition gins are only available in each gin town - and via Wise Wines .

I also checked out the very beautiful "Tidy Town" while I was there.

I highly recommend a weekend road trip to any - or all - of the gin towns. And the gins!

My favourite gins were Gingin and Narrogin - so I guess I'll have to hit them next.
