My fiancé and I went there last week to pre-celebrate the sale of his car and although at the time I was more worried about whether our celebrating prior to the final cheque being handed over was going to affect the sale of the car, the food (mainly the dessert) helped me forget my pre-sale anxiety.
We started off with complimentary puff pastry appetisers (and really anything complimentary is always a plus in my book), devoured some evil but delicious white carb bread rolls, shared oysters and mushrooms then chose two separate mains, because I'm a vegetarian (who eats fish) and he isn't. No matter how hard I try to convince him.
Anyway, I naturally ordered the scallops, presented in tiny seashells, (that reminded me of the little mermaid's bra) while my other half ate his way through what he called a delicious little duck; his words not mine...(Remember I'm vego.) The portion sizes didn't seem too big, but before we knew it we both had to find somewhere to fit in dessert.
And I'm glad we did, because dessert was the best bit!
I feasted on the 'chocolate beetroot tart, vanilla anglaise, with liquorice ice cream' while my partner had the 'white chocolate pomegranate brûlée, lime basil gelato, sumac strawberry.'
