Ginger to Grow and Ginger to Eat
This month, the Ginger Flower and Food Festival will celebrate its 20th Anniversary, with the biggest three-day festival to celebrate with an impressive array of food and gardening experts at Yandina, on Friday January 22nd, to Sunday January 24th. Head north of Brisbane, on the M1, and around 110 kms north, turn off at Exit 215, and follow the signs to The Ginger Factory, on Pioneer Road.
The Ginger Factory is a great place to visit at any time – it is open 7 days a week from 9 am to 5 pm, and entry is free, though there is a range of tickets available for purchase for tours and rides which include The Factory Tour, The Super Bee Tour and rides on Moreton and The Ginger Train. More details here.
Entrance to the Ginger Factory is through the shop which has a huge array of ginger and other products, as well as souvenirs. The Ginger Café has an extensive lunch and snack menu, and Ice Creamery is a great place to enjoy fresh ice cream as you enjoy the ambience of the surrounding gardens.
The Festival will be very busy with live entertainment, a wide range of cooking demonstrations, focusing on planting, growing and cooking with gingers. As well there will be plenty of ornamental Gingers, Heliconias and more on sale. Download the full program from the website here.
The Ginger Factory is open 7 days a week - however, the Festival is a "must-see" for Ginger lovers!
