Gilligan's is a hostel located in downtown Cairns, QLD. I went there with a group when I first arrived in Australia and staying at Gilligan's was a great first impression of the country.

The rooms are very clean, and are in much better shape compared to other hostels I've stayed in. The rooms are air conditioned, but the lounges are not. Each room has their own shower, toilet, mini fridge, television and a balcony. Our balcony had a great view of the downtown area, the ocean, and some mountains.

The wifi is only $2 a day, but signal strength is best while in the lounge. The breakfast provided was fairly decent, as I never walked away from breakfast hungry. There is also a pool located in the back. Unfortunately I never used the pool due to my busy schedule, but it looks very scenic an a nice place to relax after a long day.

The location is great, as it is near other attractions and within walking distance of almost everything. There are bars and clubs nearby, but one of the best clubs in Cairns is right downstairs, which is part of Gilligan's. The club is, in my opinion, one of the highlights of the Cairns nightlife and one of the best places to go to have fun after dark. Even if you're not staying at Gilligan's I would recommend coming down here for a few drinks. There are also various venues around Gilligan's, such as tattoo parlours, coffee shops, restaurants, and souvenir shops.

Gilligan's is definitely the go-to place when looking for a hostel in Cairns, and one of the top places for Cairn's nightlife.
