Slide.Melbourne has earmarked Landsowne Street to erect a giant three-lane, 400m water slide next to Fitzroy Gardens on 15 February 2015, with a mission to make Melbourne the 'World's Most Slidable City'.
Following the success of Slidestreet, where a 310m water slide (as long as 2 x AFL ovals end to end) took to the streets of Perth on 14 December 2014, Slide.Melbourne is set to splash out with a similar aquaric experience to entertain locals and visitors, both young and old, in Victoria's capital city.

Slidestreet Perth took inspiration from Aussie childhood memories, inflating a backyard Summer tradition to a much larger scale, and now Slide.Melbourne hopes to mirror the slippery fun, with Hobart, Launceston, Devonport and Newcastle said to be organising similar events, too.
Although said to still require council approval, Slide.Melbourne has already proved to be so popular, all registrations are booked out on single two hour sessions costing $40 per person, starting at 10am, 12pm, 2pm and 4pm. To register for the waiting list to join Australia's biggest city water slide, head to Slide.Melbourne's website, and splash around on the event's Facebook page here.
