Giant Days, John Allison, comics, funny comics, British comics, humour, graphic novel

Join Esther, Susan and Daisy for the holidays, as they catch up with family and friends and visit and parallel universe in which the three of them didn't meet and become friends on their first day of university.

Giant Days Extra Credit
is a collection of bonus stories about the characters of the Giant Days comic series. It includes art by John Allison, the series' creator who normally only does the writing, and several guest artists.

The stories in this volume probably won't make much sense to someone who hasn't already read at least part of the Giant Days series, but it's sure to delight fans. My favourite story from this collection was the alternate universe one in which the three girls don't hit it off when they first arrive at Sheffield Uni. Instead, Esther falls in with the popular girls, Susan and Ed are dating and Daisy hides in her room blasting the campus with Enya 24/7. McGraw, however, is still McGraw, bless his heart.

Did I mention he has a beard?!

The Christmas stories were also fun, although I didn't quite know what to make of 'How The Fishman Despoiled Christmas'.

This doesn't make a lot more sense even in context. From 'How the Fishman Despoiled Christmas'. illustrated by Caanan Grall

All the artists are talented, but I found I missed the regular artists (Lisa Treiman and Sarah Stern) in the issues they weren't a part of.

Giant Days Extra Credit is a fun collection of comics, strictly for fans of the main series. It doesn't contain spoilers if you haven't read all 12 volumes as yet, but having read only up until volume 6 so far myself, I'm thinking I may have missed the explanation of where 'Desmond Fishman' came from and what the heck he has to do with anything.

Giant Days Extra Credit is available in paperback in book shops, or digital format from Comixology.
