Pure escapist, popcorn/action cinema, done reasonably well. The plot is fast and shallow (the evil Cobra organisation tries to wipe out the Joes, extort billions from the major governments of the world with a devastating new weapon system, and take over the US government for good measure. The surviving Joes must go to ground, enlisting what help that can, to thwart Cobra's evil schemes), the action is loud and flashy (big guns, big vehicles, and even bigger explosions), the heroes are all incredibly good looking, and the baddies are all comic book evil and/ or deformed, which means some good costumes!

The acting is stock (fortunately, the music is there to point out to the audience how they're supposed to feel at a given point), though there are some well delivered one liners, and Bruce Willis is at his tongue-in-cheek best. I really enjoyed the action sequence with the belay ropes in the Himalayas, and London going bye-bye was good work from the special effects team!
