[b]Ghosts** - conjures up something creepy, but do they really exist?
Some people believe in them, yet there are many sceptics who say "there is no such thing as ghosts". Most cities have their fair share of "haunted" buildings, and Perth is no exception, having a variety of places that supposedly have ghosts! There are several organised ghost tours you can do in Perth, so why not try one to make up your own mind! And while you are trying, I'm sure you will also have great fun.
[b]GOSNELLS TOWN GHOSTS**
Locals say that the Perth hills are home to the spirits of Mason and Bird's timber mill workers, who built a thriving community in Orange Grove in the 1860's. You can find out for yourself when you go on the City of Gosnells annual Ghost Walks. These are fully guided 5.5 km moon-lit walks along a well-marked bushtrack starting at the historic Victoria Dam and going on to the Bickley Reservoir in the Orange Grove Hills.
You will explore the history of the Mason and Bird Timber Mill Company, and the community that thrived in the area over 150 years ago, so you will also be learning a bit of history. You will meet the friendly ghost performers who will tell you colourful tales of the many people who were in the area at the time.
But beware of the convicts you may encounter hanging about the railway bridge, for they provided much of the hard labour during its construction, and they are likely to just be "hanging about" this bridge. Experience the local environment in a new way with this exciting family entertainment, as you enjoy the magnificent bush scenery and views of the Perth City lights at the same time.
Each tour night, four groups of approximately 25 walkers can enjoy this tour, and the walk takes about three hours.
You will firstly go on a 20-minute bus ride from the Hardinge Road picnic area, to the starting point at Victoria Dam carpark and when you return, you will also be treated to a light supper, and you can discuss the ghosts you saw with the volunteers. There will be four ghost tours in November, December, 2017 and January and February, 2018, on a Friday evening close to the full moon!
