The
City of Kalamunda and
Zig Zag Gallery are hosting
NAIDOC events to celebrate our Aboriginal and Torres Strait talent and cultures.
8-17 Jul 10am-4pm - Art Exhibition at Zig Zag Gallery, 50 Railway Rd, Kalamunda - Book here for your free ticket to attend at any time, including Opening Night on Fri 8 Jul from 5.30-8.30pm AWST.
For the rest of the NAIDOC Week events hosted by City of Kalamunda,
see here . You can also download the
Program here . Kicking off on 3 July, you'll find
Online Story Time Sessions until the end of NAIDOC week - 11 Jul 2022. No bookings are required.
You could say the
Opening Ceremony would be the best way to start NAIDOC Celebrations on 3 July around the campfire, enjoying some kangaroo stew and damper and cultural stories and knowledge. There'll be a Welcome to Country and a performance by Little Doorum Dancers, plus a story time session for the kids.
The rest of the events include a couple of story time events which is apt for us to learn about our First Nations culture, along with a cultural walk to learn about not just Aboriginal culture, but about bush tucker, bush medicine and more. Keep in mind some of these events require bookings so get on to it quickly.
Enjoy sound sessions, art projects and an
Aboriginal Doll Making and Toy Workshop . Without a doubt you need to book. Geri Hayden (Boorloo Aboriginal Experiences) will take you for a bush walk followed by a lesson in Aboriginal doll & toy making. Sounds like a wonderful array of cultural events to choose from.
