Are you a film buff? Then you will love BIFF - the Brisbane International Film Festival.

There will be something to delight you, entice you, scare you, make you laugh, make you cry, cringe, smile, and wonder at the immense versatility that is part of this all encompassing film festival.


There will be black and white film, silent film, award winning film and documentaries. This year sees as well the entry of the Cannes, Berlinale and Venice film festival winners.


There will be a 40th anniversary screening of The Exorcist with Linda Blair in attendance. She played Reagan, the possessed little girl in the movie. Also screening will be An Afternoon with Stevie Nicks. This showcases the making of the CD of the same name. Stevie Nicks will also be interviewed as well.

From November 13 - 24 the all out film frenzy will go on in Brisbane. And they promise to illuminate and entertain. All films will be local, interstate and international from Australian and international film makers.

The Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA) joins the other eight venues in the mix, which vary from the Palace Barracks Cinemas through the city right out the other side to the Port Side Wharf.

If you received your BMag magazine in your mail box this week you will find the pullout for the festival. It contains 47 pages of information including a complete listing of the movies on the last page for your viewing pleasure during this year's festival. There are trailers for a good portion of them on YouTube to indulge yourself and help you make some choices.

You can purchase tickets to the opening night for $65. Your purchase includes the film screening at the Barracks of The Railway Man with Colin Firth and Nicole Kidman, the story of a man's imprisonment during the war and his struggles during and after. Transport to the official after party at GOMA is included in your ticket price.


Tickets can be purchased here . They can also be purchased in person at any BIFF box office. Tickets are on sale from October 22 onward and prices vary and range from single tickets to multi specials. They are age dependent as well and include festival passes, Opening and Closing night specials and special screenings.

You will be able to wine and dine at certain venues close to all the screenings. A list appears in the pullout in this week's BMag as well as online.


BIFF is presented by Screen Queensland, whose vision is "to support and promote a creative innovative and commercially sustainable screen industry in Queensland that make productions designed to entertain and connect with worldwide audiences".
