Preston Library is celebrating their birthday and you're invited. Reserve your spot right here for Saturday 12 August 2023 from 10am to 2pm AEST at Preston Library, 266 Gower St, Preston. The vibes are going to be the 70s, so get your 70s gear on (optional, but fun), like flared trousers, big hair, peasant blouses and tie-dye. The schedule is as follows.

  • 10am-12pm - face painting; choose a funky design at the face painting station to go with your outfit
  • 11am - 70s storytime where groovy librarians will read their favourite children's books of the 70s
  • 1-2pm -70s Trivia, an hour of fun for the adults
  • 2.30-3.30pm - library bag screen printing (youth craft). Screen print your own Preston Library 50th Birthday library bag - while stocks last

    • Simultaneously, all day you'll find -

  • Scavenger hunt for kids - crack the code with some classic 70s books while exploring new corners of the library
  • Kids craft table - craft your own string phone and learn about the first mobile phone, or just show off your creative flair at the craft table
  • The last 50 years, an exhibition - learn about the Preston Library from the 70s till now

    • You can just turn up without booking, but if you do, you'll receive an email reminder. Bring the kids, dress up, and have some 70s fun.
