The quirkiest library/bookstore/cafe ever visited by a human
The Food of Literature in Bondi
Hidden in the streets of Bondi, there is a little place called Gertrude and Alice Cafe. What separates this cafe from others, is that it is more of a library. The walls are covered in books of all sorts.
There is a counter at the front entrance where you can buy food from a menu. I ordered a croissant and a hot chocolate which arrived promptly. The customer service was extremely friendly, and they even offered to put my hot chocolate in a takeaway cup when I couldn't finish drinking the entire jug of it.
There are so many categories of books in the cafe, which can be easily found by a sticker titling the category, on the bookshelf. I found books about street art, which was definitely an interesting topic to read about. If you are interested, you can buy the books at the front counter.
Despite the large number of people at the cafe, it was actually really quiet inside, rather like a library. This can either be a negative or a positive, depending on what you are looking for. If you have just finished a long day's work and need to relax, this cafe is the perfect place. However, if you are more of a talkative person and looking for a place to socialise it might be difficult to do in library-like noise conditions. Final Thoughts The Gertrude and Alice Cafe is definitely a place to visit in Bondi. For anyone looking for some peace and quiet, this is the place to go.
