Australia's best beach to learn to surf...Seven miles of sand, surf and more.
Gerroa is the closest town to the famous seven mile beach, a sunny, sandy quiet beach expanding over just that - seven miles if not more... There's plenty of room for some private beach action without worrying about anyone cramping your style.. Seven mile beach is known to be the best beach to learn to surf in Australia so what are you waiting for?
Located in the Illawara region, about 133 kilometers from Sydney southward near the towns of Kiama, Berry and Gerringong; Gerroa is a fantastic place to escape for a weekend with friends or family. You could even manage it in a day if you start early enough.. It is set on a headland overlooking the estuary of the Crooked river.
The Sir Charles Kingsford Smith Memorial lookout is a must see- offering panoramic views of the NSW south coast and the seven mile beach national park. But more importantly, don't miss the opportunity to take a walk along the beach, relax, unwind, or immerse yourself in the surf action. There are surf camps run over the weekend, 3 days, 5 days etc. with Surf Camp Australia which cater all meals, include wet suit and board hire as well as friendly instructors.
Alternatively, you can get lessons ranging from beginners to more experienced surfers with Land's Edge surf school. With friendly and approachable coaches, you'll come out of the lesson feeling positive and fulfilled. The instructors will adapt the lesson to your needs with no more than a 1:8 ratio, requiring minimum of 4 participants for a private group lesson. Also the more participants, the cheaper the overall cost per head for the lesson.
Relaxing fun in the sun... You'll definitely wanna come back for more.
