Come along and join in on one of these four runs
Well, if the title is any indication, this should be an interesting event! The Georges River Festival of the Feet will be held on Sunday 14th July 2019. It is an annual fun run held near Bankstown in Sydney.
All the courses are off-road and wind along the Georges River and around Lake Gillawarna. This area is beautiful and is in the Mirrambeena Regional Park in Georges Hall.
The event attracts more than 600 runners, from those who are really serious competitors to those who just wanna have fun! It attracts runners as well as their families who watch and egg them on. Even babies in prams are pushed along and right through to octogenarians.
The Start and Finish area are located 150m west of the footbridge over Henry Lawson Drive, Georges Hall, between Flinders Road and Georges Crescent.
Costs for entry are as follows:
Half-Marathon 21.1km - $55 online (or $70 on the day)
14km - $40 online (or $50 on race day)
7km - $30 online (or $35 on race day)
3km - $20 online (or $25 on race day)

All these prices are plus an online booking fee.
To register for any of the events, you can click here. You can also come and run with this group any Saturday.
If you will be registering on the actual day, you can pay by either cash or EFTPOS. Registrations close 15 minutes before each race.
The events start and finish at the Western Districts Joggers & Harriers clubhouse. This is situated 150m west of the pedestrian bridge on Henry Lawson Drive between Flinders Avenue and Georges Crescent. You can click on the following link for the 3 km map and on this link for the 7 km, 14 km and 21 km maps.
The starting times are as follows:
Half-Marathon 21.1km - starts at 8:30 am
14km - starts at 8:45 am
7km - starts at 9:30 am
3km - starts at 10:00 am
Anyone can enter these runs however you need to be 18 or over to enter the half marathon because of the longer distance.
There is a run/walk/jog to suit all runners, joggers and walkers and all events are safe in that they are not on the road.
There is a time limit for the half marathon, and this needs to be completed in less than 3 hours to get marshal support and have their results recorded.
You could also organise to run in a team in the Festival of the Feet! This is only however for the 7 km race and you can register up to six people and this must be done online.
All participants are given a Festival of the Feet medal for completing their distance, as well as a race bag full of goodies from the sponsors. Finishers' certificates will be available online with results, times and placings.
The major parking areas are accessed by the Mirambeena Regional Park entry off Henry Lawson Drive, opposite Lionel Street at the southern end of the park.
There will be plenty of signs on the day to help you find parking spots. There will also be limited parking early on Henry Lawson Drive.
