George's Paragon Seafood Restaurant at Sanctuary Cove is known as one of the best dining experiences on the Gold Coast - now next door and right on the waterfront they have opened a small pizzeria and bar, which I really loved.

Sanctuary Cove is an exclusive resort located at the northern end of the Gold Coast on the suburb of Hope Island.

Not having a big budget for a night out we wondered around
Sanctuary Cove looking for somewhere to have drinks, and then dinner. George's Paragon Pizza Wine Bar actually ended up being where we had both.

Swayed by the view and the beautifully decorated decking with its lit up trees, we sat down to have a few beers and sparkling wines. Both were just $6.50 - considering this is Sanctuary Cove we were both pleasantly surprised. Sitting there with a sparkling wine, overlooking the marina and stunning yachts, and under the pinky purple haze of the lights was just perfect and a great spot for a romantic evening out, without the huge bill.

We looked at the menu - it did look great - but left to see what other places had to offer. We had a drink elsewhere but the location, prices and setting of the Pizza Wine Bar was in the back of our minds, and we decided to head back there for dinner.

Offering pizza, pasta, salads and sides it is really reasonably with only a couple of large seafood pizzas being $22, every other dish ranges from $10-$20. Each dish I saw coming out looked great, and there were lots of happy satisfied faces about.

At night the lights look even more spectauclar and it's just a lovely setting, in the end we got our pizzas to go - they were delicious, a
great size and both had lots of toppings, also it was still piping hot even after the drive home.

The only downside, being so close to the water is mozzies and the like, and if you are prone to bites, as I am, then I suggest you spray yourself before heading to Sanctuary Cove.

I would certainly head back there again, I love Sanctuary Cove but you do pay a little more for the luxury setting, especially when dining there. But not here, the food and drinks were great, the view was incredible and for a fraction of the cost at other places.

Open everyday from 11am to 10pm. To get to Sanctuary Cove you take the Oxenford Hope Island exit off the M1 motorway and follow the signs. It is about 30 minutes drive north from the Gold Coast.
