Nature play area for children
There is hidden nature play area for children at George Brown Darwin Botanic Gardens. It is located beside Eva's Cafe and hidden behind the green bushes and big trees. What makes this playground different is they use nature as a play area and the play equipment, such as small bush, bamboo trees and big rocks.

Hide and seek amongst the bamboo trees

It has maze built from small bushes. This maze is more suitable for little ones as big children might not feel challenged enough. The big children might enjoy a game of hide and seek amongst the bamboo trees.

There are big stones around the play area. Children can climb up the stones or use it as a stepping stone. Small tunnels made of concrete are also worth investigation. On the tunnel's wall, there are some beautiful Aboriginal paintings and patterns.

You have to watch your children while playing in this nature play area as there are a few water features around it and some ponds too. There are no fish in the water feature nor the ponds, but it still beautiful to look at.

What makes this playground stunning is the 3 storeys cubby house, that is made from an old fallen big tree as the base. There is a slippery slide at the bottom of the first cubby house. The slippery slide is not high, so little ones can tackle it quite easy. The stairs to go up to the second level of cubby house are quite wide and easy to climb, but the stairs to go to the top level of cubby house is not that wide and you have to be extra careful to climb on it as it is very slippery.

Lots of green areas to explore

There are plenty of shaded areas under the big trees around the playground, so it still okay to play at the playground on sunny days. Don't forget to put some insect repellant as Darwin's insects are very "friendly". You can find some sitting areas around the playground which are suitable for picnics. There is a free BBQ table and a public toilet also can be found near the playground.
