'Gentle Arts' is an exhibition showcasing the quilts, lace and embroidery of Woodbridge.Organised by the National Trust of Western Australia Woodbridge Volunteers, this exhibition is fittingly staged at Woodbridge, the beautiful 19th century residence of Charles Harper and his family, furnished in the late-Victorian style.
For this exhibition, fragile textiles are brought out of storage and displayed for the public to enjoy. Woodbridge has just reopened after closing for the annual spring clean so now is the time to see the house at is sparkling best. The quilts on display are listed on the National Quilt Register and include one of the oldest quilts in Australia made by Sarah Evans in Wales in 1806. Enjoy a close up view of this lovingly made treasure. There is no extra cost for this exhibition as entry is included in the regular price of admission.
The Bellevue Belles Lace Group (Australian Lace Guild) will be demonstrating traditional lacemaking techniques during selected times. You will be able to try your hand at the have-a-go bobbin lace making table.
Come along with the whole family this spring and enjoy an afternoon at Woodbridge. You'll discover a wonderful display of handmade domestic and decorative items in a truly historic location.
