For the Brisbanites living in the outer skirts of the city and beyond like myself, cosy cafe's serving great coffee are few and far between. Often I have to travel inward to find a place with quality service, food and atmosphere; so it was a welcome surprise to come across in Brighton the other day. It seems slowly but surely, the unique cafe experience is filtering throughout Brisbane.

opened only a few weeks ago, and is located at 119 Deagon Street, Brighton . Inside, the cafe boasts a warm red and gold theme adorned with simplistic artworks and vintage crockery and coffee cups. Coupled with homemade savoury scones on the counter (pumpkin is devine), the decor creates an atmosphere of a time gone by, reminiscent of Nana's kitchen.

An array of mismatched vintage and rustic wicker chairs, coffee tables and a sofa combine inside and out to complete the space and certainly make the most of the small area.

The menu is simplistic, offering a selection of muffins, scones, banana bread and nut slice, while drinks include standard coffees and tea as well as a range of organic frappes (banana, mango or raspberry sound quite interesting) and cold drinks. When the weather warms up I'm eager to try the iced chai. The coffee is tasty too, made using the cafe's own slightly sweet blend.

Situated on the corner of a busy roundabout, traffic can be frequent and parking is minimal, but neither are a turn-off. The cafe is great for a quick takeaway coffee or a mid-morning catch up and appears child friendly. There is also a park and playground
across the road.

As a resident of Brighton and a barista for many years now, it is certainly a relief to find a quirky cafe with a personality - a West End vibe I'm glad to see in my part of town. What's more, if you're thinking it might be a little far from home, it's worth the trip - the waterfront is a feature in Brighton, Sandgate and Shorncliffe and could make for a nice morning or afternoon stroll after
coffee.

offers a fresh cafe experience in Brighton and is open from 6.00am until 2.00pm weekdays, and 7.00am until
2.30pm on weekends.
