This place rocks; their flavours change every week and I can't wait to try the next flavour combination.
It has become a weekend habit to head down and get a sweet fix and with amazing flavours to choose from. With people crowding round and pondering which one to choose, that is a sure sign that the ice cream is good!
I recently had an opportunity to try the Messina ice cream cakes. We tried their signature dish, Hazelnut Zuccott;. This was Messina's first gelato cake adopted from a traditional Sicilian recipe. Filled with hazelnut and giandula gelato, then encased in a Frangelico soaked sponge and white chocolate and hazelnut ice cream, covered in giandula glaze to finish.
Their cakes come in different sizes and flavours and can serve 6-16 people, the cost vary from $28 to $ 85.
There's the masterchef Black Forest cake which I'm dying to try. Bombe Alaska on a bed of flourless chocolate sponge encased with raspberry and dark chocolate gelato and finished with Italian meringue. Dr Evil's magic mushroom is filled with dark chocolate gelato, peanut cookies and dulce de leche sitting on a grass made form popping candy and white chocolate crushed biscuit. It's then covered in a layer of flourless chocolate sponge, red ganache and white chocolate buttons, perfect for that 'Ben and Holly' themed birthday. So many more cakes on offer but you should try for yourselves.
You can reserve a cake in the morning and then pick it up when you need it as they can travel from door to door for 25 minutes before melting into a gooey mess.
