Hi there! I'm Lisa, a 24-year-old Psychology student from Germany. I live in Sydney now to finish my Masters. Being new to the city, I love to get around and share my impressions with you. Hope you enjoy reading my stuff :)!
It all started on a beautiful Sunday afternoon; cravings for ice cream took over so we had to get our lazy bums into the city.
Rumour had it that Gelato Messina makes the best ice cream in Sydney, so that was where we were heading. I brought along a couple of other ice cream addicts so we could taste as many of the wonderfully weird Messina flavours as possible. Ever since I've been hooked onto the heavenly stuff and I just can't get enough. Luckily there are three Messina Gelateria in Sydney.

Messina Ice Cream creations
In all our excitement (and probably due to brain freeze) we decided on the following challenge: go to all three Messina Gelaterias in less than a week and do not take the same flavour twice. I know, all Sydney fitness gurus will raise their index fingers at me and shake their heads in disbelief but let me quote a current popular song here; "I don't care, I love it!"

Choice of the day
Within four days I tasted up and down the Messina Ice Cream menu at The Star, in Surry Hills and Darlinghurst. Lime cheesecake, peer rhubarb, tiramisu, choc chip, bounty, milk chocolate peanut fudge, salted caramel, apple pie, Muum Maam (coconut custard ice cream with banana jam and crunchy bits), and heaps of fruit sorbets later, I came to the following conclusion:
Favourite shop:
Darlinghurst (241 Victoria Road) because it has this great comic paintings on the wall, cute little bar stools outside, and nice music on the background.
Favourite Ice Cream:
If I had to choose it would be Muum Maam….but thank god I really don't have to! And I will not rest until I tasted each and every single flavour.
You can find
Gelato Messina on Facebook, where they seduce you with pictures of their new beautiful creations and info about their shops.

Empty cups in Darlinghurst
It is more than worth only one try. But careful! It is highly addictive.
