Do you fancy yourself a connoisseur of all things delectable to the tastebuds?
Do you appreciate a fine wine, a well-prepared dish and a mouth-watering dessert?
Well, look no further than the inaugural Geelong Food & Wine Show. This two day event will be held at the Deakin University Waterfront Campus over the Labour Day weekend (March 10-11, 2012) to satisfy your appetite.
Some of Australia's most well known and high profile chefs, such as George Calombaris, Adriano Zumbo and Ben O'Donoghue, will be putting on cooking demonstrations in special MasterClasses, and imparting tips and hints which you can then put into practice in your own kitchen. Even if you aren't particularly graceful in the kitchen, it will be an eye-opening experience to witness the experts in action, as they use local produce to showcase their culinary skills.
Local chefs from some of the award-winning restaurants in the Geelong region will also be on hand to demonstrate their expertise in the kitchen. Matt Dempsey from Gladioli in Inverleigh, Leonie Mills from Jack & Jill Restaurant in Geelong and Stephane McGlynn from Queenscliff's Q Provedore will represent the Greater Geelong region, sharing their knowledge of what makes the area so successful within the food, wine and beer industry.
This is your chance to take a wine appreciation class, taste some of the region's finest cheeses, converse with some of the foremost experts in the gastronomic industry, and watch Geelong Football Club players Jimmy Bartel and Tom Hawkins take on Ben O'Donoghue in the ultimate cook-off.
