The permanent displays feature some amazing and awe-inspiring works from European and Australian artists, focusing on colonial Australia and Geelong's settlement.
Until May 7, there is an enjoyable exhibition of Abstraction. This features artwork from Australian women artists who have explored details, lines, and colours through abstract concepts. The works on display will certainly intrigue and mystify as you stroll through the exhibition.
There is also a great gift shop to have a look at and pick up some nifty souvenirs. The products available are based on the artwork and come with that true artsy twist.
The best part is, entrance to the Gallery is completely free! It is open daily, including weekends, from 9am to 5pm.
To get the Geelong Gallery is rather easy. The drive from Melbourne to Geelong will take around 1.5 hours. There is ample parking around Johnstone Park and the Waterfront, as well as shopping centres on Moorabool and Brougham Street. Parking is free on the weekends, too! Catching the V/Line train service is another easy option, with the Geelong Gallery about a two minute walk from Geelong main station.
