Locals and visitors alike are looking forward to the 2018 Gawler Rotary Village Fair which will be held on Saturday 3rd November from 9.00 am until 2.00 pm. Facilitated by the Gawler Rotary Club, the annual Fair is an enjoyable, family event, offering something for everyone. The venue is Pioneer Park which is situated at the northern end of Murray Street in Gawler, just past the Visitors' Centre on the corner of Lyndoch Road. Entry to the event is free.

More than 50 stalls will be selling a wide selection of goods including gifts, crafts, local produce, trees and shrubs, plants and flowers, books, toys, novelties, second-hand items, home-baked goods and jams and preserves. There will be plenty of food and drinks available to tempt the appetite for a mid-morning snack or lunch, including barbecued food, coffee and ice-cream.

The roving clowns, including one on stilts, will put a smile on everyone's face as they joke and clown around with patrons and children will be entertained with face painting, bouncy castles, balloons and trying to win prizes at the laughing clowns side-show.

Live music from the rotunda will be provided by several groups including the Gawler Town Band and the ever-popular Adelaide City Jazzmen, who will be in town for the Gawler Jazz Festival weekend. Visitors to the Fair will also be able to watch a variety of active displays including gymnastics and dog agility.

Static displays at the Fair include classic cars, traction engines, CFS and MFS fire engines, an emergency ambulance and the Gawler Road Safety Group.

Prize winners and exhibits in the Rotary Club of Gawler Youth Art Exhibition will be displayed at the Fair. The exhibition awards three prizes for each of three age groups – 5 to 9 years, 10 to 14 years and 15 to 18 years and the talent displayed by some of the exhibitors are outstanding. An extra, special prize is awarded to the President's Choice.

The Rotary Club of Gawler has been sponsoring and facilitating the Village Fair in Pioneer Park for nearly 40 years. The Fair is not a fundraiser for the Rotary Club but provides an opportunity for local community groups, clubs, schools, churches, various charities and other organisations to attend, raise money for their own particular causes, and showcase their activities. The Rotary club provides all the infrastructure, including shelters and trestle tables, sets up the fair and cleans up afterwards and the Gawler Council provides the site free of charge as well as advertising the event with banners and flags in the main street.

Put the date in your diary and come along with the whole family, including the dog, for an enjoyable day out. Grab some bargains from the many stalls, support local charities and groups and maybe even purchase some early Christmas gifts. The venue is wheelchair friendly and toilets are situated nearby.
