The annual Gawler Rotary Village Fair is an enjoyable, free family event which offers something for everyone. Facilitated by the Gawler Rotary Club, it will be held this year on Saturday 4th November. The venue is Pioneer Park at the Northern end of Murray Street, Gawler (next to the Visitors' Centre), and the Fair will be on from 9.00 am until 2.00 pm.

More than 50 stalls will be selling a wide selection of goods including gifts, crafts, produce, plants and flowers, books, toys and jams and preserves. There will be a variety of food and drinks available to tempt the appetite for a mid-morning snack or lunch.

Face painting, bouncy castles, laughing clowns and balloons will entertain the children and the roving clowns will put a smile on everyone's face.

Live music will be provided by the Gawler Town Band and the ever-popular Adelaide City Jazzmen, who will be in town for the Gawler Jazz Festival. Visitors to the Fair will also be able to watch a number of active displays including gymnastics and dog agility.

Static displays at the Fair include classic cars, traction engines, CFS and MFS fire engines, an emergency ambulance and the Gawler Road Safety Group.

Prize winners and exhibits in the Rotary Club of Gawler Youth Art Exhibition will be displayed at the Fair. The exhibition awards prizes for three age groups – 5 to 9 years, 10 to 14 years and 15 to 18 years – and the talent displayed by some of the exhibitors is outstanding.

The Rotary Club of Gawler has been sponsoring and facilitating the Village Fair in Pioneer Park for nearly 40 years. The Fair is not a fundraiser for the Rotary Club but provides an opportunity for local community groups, clubs and schools, various charities and other organisations to attend and raise money for their own particular causes. The Rotary club provides all the infrastructure, including shelters and trestle tables, and also sets up the fair and cleans up afterwards. The Gawler Council provides the site free of charge and advertising the event with banners and flags in the main street.

Put the date in your diary and come along with the whole family, including the dog, for an enjoyable day out. Grab a bargain from the many stalls, support local charities and groups and maybe even purchase some early Christmas gifts. The venue is wheelchair friendly and toilets are situated nearby.
